How to Find Your IP Address on Windows 11
On Windows 11 you can find your private network IP in Settings or with a single command, and your public IP right here on this page.
Start with the method you are most comfortable with. All three take under a minute.
Method 1: Settings
Open Settings, go to Network and internet, then click Wi-Fi or Ethernet depending on your connection. Click your network name and scroll to find your IPv4 address.
Method 2: Command Prompt (ipconfig)
Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter. Type ipconfig and press Enter. Look for IPv4 Address under your active adapter. Ignore the 169.254.x.x address if you see one, that means the PC failed to get an address from the router.
Method 3: PowerShell
Open PowerShell and run: Get-NetIPAddress -AddressFamily IPv4 | Where-Object { $_.IPAddress -notlike '127.*' }. This lists your IPv4 addresses without the clutter.
Frequently asked questions
What is the fastest way to find my IP on Windows 11?
Press Win + R, type cmd, hit Enter, then type ipconfig. Your IPv4 address appears in seconds.
Why does ipconfig show multiple IP addresses?
Windows lists an address for every network adapter, including virtual ones from VPNs or virtual machines. The one under Wi-Fi or Ethernet is your real local address.
What does 192.168.x.x mean?
It is a private address assigned by your router. It works only inside your home or office network and is not reachable from the internet.
